Alley Cats Entertainment: Your Source For Fun in Arlington

Kids bouncing off the walls? Been there! Alley Cats Entertainment knows the feeling. That's why they offer nonstop fun for kids of all ages! With locations in Arlington and Hurst, Alley Cats will keep your kids happy and active for hours.

*This is a sponsored post, paid for by Alley Cats. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

My kids love arcades and fun centers. They love saving their quarters for a few weeks and then letting loose at an arcade with the hopes of winning big. My youngest is actually a pretty skilled arcade hustler, regularly hauling home stuffed animals from claw machines around town. It brings me back to my own youth and my own little brother, who was literally the king of claw machines in and around my home town. At one point he amassed hundreds of stuffed animals, skillfully acquired from local claw machines, truly without much effort. It was rare he would play and didn't win and a reason we spent a lot of time at arcades and fun centers around Chicagoland in the 90s.

But truly, is there anything more fun than an arcade and fun center brimming with games and possibilities? It's such a great way to spend a rainy day or a blisteringly hot afternoon or any day when your kids need out of the house. It's a great place to meet up with friends or maybe even make new ones. And it's great for all ages! Everyone loves an arcade and fun center- from 5-year-olds to 15-year-olds, parents and even grandparents, everyone gets a kick out of an arcade.

And, if you're local to the Arlington area, there is nothing like Alley Cats Entertainment. First off, it's the stuff local legend is made of! My husband, who grew up in Arlington, remembers playing at Alley Cats at about the age my kids are now. And I've been taking our girls there for more than a decade, dating back to when my youngest was just starting out in kindergarten, taking the free bowling lessons they offered after school one year.

Alley Cats is the spot for local entertainment

We love Alley Cats because there is simply so much to do under one roof, and Alley Cats has a great location with lots of parking. Seriously!
Check out all the things you can do at Alley Cats:
- play mini golf (9 or 18 holes)
- hit balls at the batting cages
- challenge friends to laser tag
- go bowling
- play billiards
- check out the new VR laser tag
- play all kinds of arcade games
- climb on the rock wall
- grab a bite to eat from the food area (or a drink at the bar)

So much to do under one roof!

Alley Cats supports the community

I know you have choices when it comes to arcade entertainment around town. The mall has an arcade. The Highlands has an arcade- heck, they have two! Grand Prairie has an arcade... I could go on. The point is, I know you have choices.

But here's why Alley Cats is the best: Alley Cats supports the local community. Hosting an event for you school? Email them. They'll work with you! Having a fundraiser? I just hosted a silent auction for the Arlington Council of PTAs and they gave us play passes to include. And I know they've done this multiple times this year alone. They are hosting an educator night later this month so you can come check out their offerings. The point is- they support the kids in this community. That can't always be said of larger, more corporate locations.

Alley Cats also participates in the Kids Bowl Free program in the summer. Sign up for Kids Bowl Free and your kiddos can bowl two games per day, every day, all summer long. Rent shoes from Alley Cats or snag some here and head to Alley Cats as often as you can. Bowl two games, let your kiddo run wild with a $5 game card and then head home for lunchtime and nap and you've had hours of fun for literally $5!

Alley Cats is affordable fun for everyone

If you've followed my shenanigans for a while, you know that I am, and always have been, a mom in search of a good deal. Heck- it was the whole reason EA was started! I'm the mom who clips coupons, shops the clearance rack, asks for freebies and will go anywhere I can find a deal.

Y'all- Alley Cats is a great deal! Seriously. You can spend $35 for an all-day play pass and your kids can go hog wild. Unlimited mini golf, rock climbing, laser tag AND bowling (including shoe rental)? That's a steal of a deal. And have you seen the Spring Break specials? Half price on those passes before 12 pm every day. $17.50 for ALL of that ALL day? Definitely add Alley Cats to your Spring Break bucket list.

Spring Break Deals
Alley Cats Entertainment offers up great deals for Spring Break and beyond.

Alley Cats isn't even just for kids. My teen loves to go here on Friday nights with a group of friends while I sit at the high top tables scrolling and hopping they'll be ready to leave soon (spoiler alert: they will never be ready to leave soon, they will be checking out the cute boys until Alley Cats turns out the lights!). Beyond even teens though, Alley Cats is a fun adult date night! I love heading there with my husband to bowl (someday, hopefully, maybe, I will beat him) or play a few arcade games (I love skeeball and find the games where you drop in the coin and it pushes a platform of coins onto a lower platform of coins in hopes of a big win fun to watch).

The point is: Alley Cats is fun. For everyone. For the community. For kids. For adults. For birthday parties. For groups. For rainy days. For summer days. For any day! Support this awesome business because businesses such as Alley Cats make Arlington awesome.

Awesome Overnight Camps for DFW-Area Kids

Starting to plan out Summer 2022?

If your summer is looking like mine, it's already got dates blocked off for Camp Thurman and summer family travel. I've got pages saved on Facebook to revisit next week when the kids are in school and am trying to figure out what else my time and budget allows for.

My girls go to overnight camp at Sky Ranch each summer. The love it there! The water activities, campfire songs and general camaraderie bring them back year after year. They enjoy making new friends, learning new skills and enjoying a week away from mom and dad with their peers.

The glow after dropping your kids at camp for a week for the time of their lives!

But Sky Ranch 2022 is almost booked up for Summer 2022! We've already secured our dates, but it has me wondering what other camps are out there that could be fun for kids.

I highly, highly recommend overnight camp for kids. I went every summer as a kid from the age of 8 until 18 and some of my best friends and favorite childhood memories are from my weeks of overnight camp in southern Wisconsin.

If you are looking for overnight camp for kids in the DFW area, check out these 10 great camps for kids. (And if the financial piece is a concern, contact the camp director! Oftentimes there are scholarships and grants available for those who qualify. There are also payment plans at camps such as Sky Ranch, which make it a little less intimidating to shell out overnight camp for your kids.)

Best Indoor Play Areas for Kids in the Fort Worth Area

When my kids were little, all I wanted was a fun indoor play area that wasn't attached to a fast food place and that require me to constantly open my wallet to buy more tokens or play time. I wanted some place for my little kids to play without being trampled by big kids. I wanted a spot where I could sit and drink coffee and chat with friends while my little roamed and explored.

Best indoor play areas in the Fort Worth area!

Sadly for me, all of these awesome play areas started popping up after my kids were of school age. These are the wonderful spots that offer Wi-Fi and a spot to sip coffee and toys and play areas that are safe for kiddos younger than seven or eight. While we still don't have any of these types of places in Arlington, I certainly hope that there is someone in the area working out what it would take to open a Play Street Museum or similar facility in Arlington. I'm just glad that these areas finally exist in the western half of DFW- because I spent a LOT of time trucking my trio to Dallas when they were little in search of play spaces for littles.

KidMania Fort Worth
Having too much fun at KidMania in Fort Worth!

These are the very best indoor play areas for younger kids in the Arlington & Fort Worth area! 🎠 Kid Mania Fort Worth πŸ’΄ $9 for kids, infants are free πŸ“ Fort Worth (Alliance area) (This play area is pictured) 🎠 Play Studio πŸ’΄ $10 per kid πŸ“ Fort Worth (Riverside area) 🎠 Play Street Museum Ft. Worth πŸ’΄ $12 per child πŸ“ Fort Worth (Ridglea area) 🎠 Recess Time Indoor Playground πŸ’΄ $14.50 per kid, includes socks πŸ“ Burleson 🎠 Celebration Party and Event Center πŸ’΄ $7 per child πŸ“ Keller 🎠 FamilyTime Mansfield πŸ’΄ $14 per kid πŸ“ Mansfield 🎠 The Family Playhouse Tx πŸ’΄ $10 per kid πŸ“ Fort Worth (Ridgmar Mall)
🎠 Kiddleton πŸ’΄ $7.50 weekdays/ $10 weekend πŸ“ Fort Worth (Hulen Mall) 🎠 Cheeky Monkeys Fort Worth πŸ’΄ $12.99/2 hours (weekdays) πŸ“Fort Worth (Alliance area) 🎠 Luv 2 Play πŸ’΄ $14 πŸ“ Grapevine

🎠 Peek N Play πŸ’΄ $13 πŸ“ Grapevine

Many of these spots will require kids to play in socks- don't forget yours or you may have to buy some on-site!

Don't forget snacks! Some places have designated eating areas. Our favorite was always Pirate's Booty.

Bring a water bottle and coffee if that's your jam. If your kids are a little older, consider your laptop if you're a work-from-home parent. Log some hours while the kids play!

If you want to know my absolute faves on this list... I love PlayStudio for kids younger than six, and they have a great outdoor space, as well. KidMania would be the top pick for my girls- this spot is great up until about age 12. We haven't been to several newer spots on this list, but Kiddleton looks absolutely amazing!

What is your favorite kids' play area in the Fort Worth area?

A New Reading Adventure: The Cities of Adventure Series by Rishi Piparaiya

I love to travel. And I love to read.

So when I discovered the Cities of Adventure series by Rishi Piparaiya, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a few books!

Books about travel have such a special place in my heart because I think they help you visualize places you maybe haven't personally experienced. I admit, one of my favorite things about Dan Brown's books (Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code) is reading about Robert Langdon racing through some of my favorite cities in Europe, uncovering secrets. I've been to the Vatican before, but Angels & Demons made me want to race back to Rome and rediscover some of the areas Dan Brown discusses in the novel with the information the book provided. I love when reading and real life intersect!

A new reading adventure: exciting stories for young readers

Cities of Adventure books
The Cities of Adventure Books by Rishi Piparaiya.

These new adventure books, available on Amazon, are that intersection of travel and adventure for kids. My middle daughter, my most avid reader of my three, sped through these great chapter books, embarking on a city-wide adventure in three major metropolitan areas around the world.

The Race to Phar Lap's Saddle follows kids Neil and Tara through this exciting Australian City as the kids find themselves on mission to recover a stolen artifact. The book includes a kid-friendly map of the city, as well as travel tips, some differences between American English and Australian English and lots of cool facts about the land down under.

Framed in Hollywood tells the tale of a famed and framed Hollywood actress. Sally Sinclair is a well-known actress who is accused of committing a crime on the set of her latest film. Is she guilty? Or innocent? The books incorporates some of my favorite spots in Los Angeles- Rodeo Drive, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Sunset Boulevard. You can also learn cool facts about the US and some of your favorite celebrities in the back of this fun book.

Cities of Adventure: Hollywood

The Secret of the Snallygaster takes place in our nation's capitol, Washington D.C. Tara and Neil, the tale's star brother and sister duo, are on vacation in DC when a long-hidden family secret is revealed. The secret turns their vacation on its head, and the duo race to save a mysterious and magical creature, the snallygaster. We loved reading the tidbits about America in the back of the book and my middle daughter is mapping out all of the places she wants to go visit in Washington thanks to this book.

There is already a fourth book out about New York City that we haven't read yet, called The Men from B.A.G.E.L. These books are all available on Amazon for $12.99. I am not an Amazon affiliate, so I don't stand to gain anything if you purchase through the links I've provided. There are more books coming in this series about cities all over the world. What a fun way to expose your kids to new cities and cultures and foster their love of reading!

Toddler Formula from Growth Spurt Nutrition: Review & Giveaway!

Sometimes I get serious baby envy.

I mean, there are so many incredible products out there on the baby market in the years since I've had babies. From wagons that are strollers to breast pumps that are hands free to adorable, easy-to-use swaddles, the baby market is full of products that totally make me want another baby.

Don't worry, I'm not going to announce that I'm pregnant. Ever again. My husband reminds me all the freaking time that the baby ship sailed long ago for us. Our baby is almost eight, and the baby days sometimes seem so long ago that I could cry!

But I'm not writing this article to reminisce... I'm writing this article to tell you guys about an amazing product that I would have used with my babies when they were actually babies: Goat's Milk Premium Toddler Formula from Growth Spurt.

Toddler nutrition is important!
This sweet tot wishes her sippy was filled with Goat Milk Toddler Formula from Growth Spurt!

Growth Spurt Toddler Formula: Premium Toddler Nutrition

My girls each stopped nursing around 12 months and started on whole milk. I never loved giving them whole milk- there is so much controversial advice out there about cow's milk. My oldest never much cared for milk. She went from nursing to water with a few kids nutritional shakes added in for good measure. My middle daughter loved soy milk. She preferred that to cow's milk. My youngest, well, to be honest, I can't remember what she drank. Blame it on Mom Brain I guess.

But I would have loved to have the option of a toddler formula using goat's milk when I had tots around the house. Recommended for toddlers ages 12-36 months, Growth Spurt is full of all the stuff you want your toddler to have and none of the stuff you don't. It's first ingredient is full cream goat milk powder, not any of the less-than-desirable ingredients this article says most toddler products are filled with. Let me tell you all the ways that this stuff rocks:

Goat Milk Toddler Formula from Growth Spurt!

Growth Spurt Toddler Formula with Goat Milk

  • Non-GMO verified
  • Features DHA & ARA for brain and eye development
  • Has prebiotics and probiotics for digestive health
  • Filled with more than 20 vitamins and minerals, including Vitamins A, C, D, E and Calcium
  • No Maltodextrin or corn syrup
  • Has a protein composition closer to breast milk
As if all of these aren't great reasons to give Growth Spurt a try, it is also made with full cream goat milk powder, so it actually tastes (and smells) good! My middle daughter drank formula for a short time when she quit nursing and the smell of it still haunts my dreams... No icky smell with this formula! If your kiddos have a sensitivity to cow's milk, this formula might be more gentle on their tummies.

Does my toddler need formula? Can I just feed them milk?

Many will recommend that, after your toddler is 12 months old, you switch them to cow's milk. However, goat's milk can be a great alternative because, according to Dr. Sears, it is actually more similar to human milk than cow's milk is. If your child doesn't like whole cow's milk, this can be a great alternative! Always consult with your child's doctor before changing your child's diet.

Have you tried goat's milk with your toddler? Did they like it?

Being a toddler is exhausting. Proper nutrition is key!

Kids' Summer Reading Incentives

I love to read. Like, love love to read. I read 6 books in May and have more than 70 (that is not a typo) stacked against my bedroom wall just waiting for me to dive in. I prefer chick lit by British authors as well as mysteries and thrillers. The last great book I read was The Paris Orphan, although I do wish the ending had been different.

These days, my kids feel the pull of screens more than I would like them to. It's hard to convince them to put down YouTube Kids and read a book. In the summer, I institute 20 minutes of reading every day. It can be more but it can't be less. Somedays they read willingly, somedays it's a real challenge.

Check out the great article I recently did for Zulily about starting a book club for kids! I loved doing this with my girls when they are little and am trying to convince my youngest to round up a few friends start one herself.

My most avid reader with her current favorite book, The Miscalculations of Lightning Girl.

Luckily, there are lots of great summer reading incentives for kids out there right now. My girls can get earn all kinds of great stuff, from free books to free food, just by sitting still and reading a book. Why won't someone do that for me?! I'd be the happiest mama on the planet if someone gave me freebies for doing something I already love...

Best Spots for Kids Haircuts in the Fort Worth Area

My girls love going to the salon for a haircut. They love feeling grown up and selecting a new hair do. And who doesn't? I admit I love having someone else wash and style my hair... Despite all of my best efforts (and a bevy of haircare products!), I can never replicate for myself the magic my stylist performs when she takes my medium brown, frizzy, string-straight locks and transforms them into shiny blond curls. Simply amazing!

For my girls through the years, we've bounced back and forth between getting cuts from regular salons and going to places that cater to kids. My oldest, almost 12, is getting "too cool" for kid spots, but my youngest, 7, still enjoys sitting in a car chair and watching cartoons while a stylist clips off her split ends and brings her curls back to life.

If you're looking for a spot in the greater Fort Worth area that caters to kids' cuts, I've made a spectacular list for you! While I'm not a master stylist, I do consider myself a master braider! And if you are looking for tips on how to braid long hair, please check out my article I did for Zulily here!

French braiding hair takes practice... But once you get the hang of it, it's fun to create braids in your child's hair!

Where to Get your Kiddo an Awesome Haircut in the Fort Worth Area

- Sweet & Sassy Southlake-  Boy moms, take note! Sweet & Sassy is not just for girls! This sweet spot will treat your kiddo to a hair cut and a lollipop- glitter optional. Sign up for their email updates and get alerts about days when cuts go on sale- they frequently do promos where you can get a cut for your child's age! Nothing beats a $7 haircut for my youngest that comes with a fancy braid and glitter hair spray at the end. This spot is our favorite for kids' haircuts in the Fort Worth area.

- Sharkey's Cuts for Kids- With locations in Watauga and Southlake, Sharkey's Cuts for a Kids is a great option for kids haircuts in Fort Worth. Kids can watch television or play XBox while an expert stylist transform their locks. You can schedule appointments online to get your kiddo's haircut and then stop by the train-stop McDonald's I post about regularly for lunch or a snack. Perfect summertime afternoon for you and the kids!

- Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids- This salon has two locations in the area- Burleson and west Fort Worth. Kids can pick which "car chair" they sit in to get their hair done as well as choose from a wide selection of games and shows to watch during the process. This salon is also great for special needs kids. Book your appointment online at their website or on their app.

- Pigtails & Crewcuts- You can drop into this spot for so much more than just a haircut for your kiddo... Get mom or dad a haircut during your visit. Or ask about ear piercing! Pigtails and Crewcuts, located next to Sprouts in Southlake, is very clean with friendly staff that listens to what your kiddo's want in terms of a hair cut.

- Cool Cuts 4 Kids- Located near Hulen Mall, this Fort Worth salon caters to kids- but also offers styles for the whole family at great prices. The salon features "entertainment zones" for kids who aren't interested in sitting still very long. Plus, they carry Original Sprout products, one of my favorite lines of kids' products ever!

- KaZaam's Kutz for All Ages- This Arlington spot is perfect for kiddos! It's located on Cooper Street inside Whitehaven Studio. Cuts are only $21 and kids can sit in a salon chair that looks like Lightning McQueen from Disney's Cars. Inexpensive and convenient... Score!

I'm getting my backyard ready to host people this summer. The countdown is on!

But there is also something fun about stretching out on someone else's lawn- or in a nice, air-conditioned movie theater, or even a pool!- to watch a movie! How to Recycle a Car Seat

Car Seat Recycling

If your child is ready for his or her next car seat, or has outgrown car seats entirely, you may be wondering what to do with the old one. You can donate it, sell it or participate in a car seat recycling program where you can earn a discount on a new car seat. There are several considerations to take, however, before you pass the car seat on to a new child.

Keeping your kids safe on the road is so important! Recycle old car seats when they are past their prime.

Car seats, designed to keep a child who doesn’t yet meet the height or weight requirements for a regular seat safe, are expensive. Because children grow so quickly, car seats also can be quite the investment you have to make every few years. You may dread shopping for a new car seat, and, if you are are like me, you may not even be sure what you are supposed to do with the old one.

If you aren't sure what type of car seat your child should be in, no worries! Children should be in car seats until the age of 12, and shouldn't ride in the front seat of a vehicle until age 13 (these are, however, recommendations, and not laws). I did an entire article for Zulily about when a child can ride in a booster seat and the article is jam-packed with info. Click here to read it!

Car Seat Recycling: When to Toss an Old Car Seat

Consider Your Car Seat’s Expiration Date

Just like food, car seats come with an expiration date. This date is printed on every car seat and can usually be found on the side or back of a car seat. A car seat’s expiration date is six years after the date it was manufactured.

If you are like me, you might be thinking this date is just a suggestion. In my house, we don't toss cereal boxes on their expiration date unless the cereal tastes off. So... Dates are a little arbitrary. I wondered if car seat expiration dates were the same way.

However, with car seats, the expiration dates does matter. This date matters because it is the length of time the manufacturer can guarantee the frame of the car seat will hold up in the event of an accident. After that date, the integrity of the structure can no longer be relied upon to protect a child in the event of a collision. If your car seat is past its expiration date, it should be tossed- it should not be donated or given to friends.

When your child outgrows her car seat, before you pass it on or try to sell it, check the expiration date and check for recalls. The car seat may simply need to be disposed of.

BOLO: Time to Toss Your Car Seat if it has been Recalled

It may feel hard to keep up with the number of car seat recalls that hit the market every year, but they are important to pay attention to. If a car seat is recalled, it is because that car seat is no longer a safe spot for your kiddo.

If your car seat has been recalled, you can do a couple of things with it:

- Toss it

- Recycle it

- Figure out what part of the car seat is recalled and apply the appropriate repairs. For example, if a car seat's safety latch is recalled, the company may offer to send out free safety latch repair kits. You can apply this fix and then continue to use the car seat. However, you should only try to fix the recalled car seat if the manufacturer offers this fix. Do not try to fix it yourself using aftermarket pieces.

Not sure if your car seat has been recalled or just want to check? The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration keeps an updated recall list here.

Your Car Seat has been Involved in an Accident

If your car seat has been involved in an accident, however minor, it is time for the car seat to go. If your airbags deployed in an accident, even if there were no injuries to passengers, you need a new car seat.

That may seem like overkill- car seats are expensive! This one is fine! There are no outward signs of trauma to this car seat. It's fine. However, just because you can't see any problems, it doesn't mean they don't exist. If your car seat has been involved in an accident, it's time to get a new one. The structural integrity may have been compromised, and, just because you can't see anything wrong, it doesn't mean there aren't problems. Better safe than sorry.

If there was an insurance claim pertaining to the accident, check with your insurance company! They should be able to provide you with some money to put toward the purchase of a new car seat.

Car Seat Recycling: Disposing of Old Car Seats

 Recycling an Old Car Seat

If your car seat is past the expiration date, or if it has been involved in an accident of any type, that car seat should be recycled or thrown away rather than donated or passed on to others. To find places that will accept your old car seat, check out recycleyourcarseat.org. Different recycling centers will have different requirements for recycling your old car seat, so be sure to check out any steps you have to take beforehand. You can also go to carseatrecycling.com, and, for a fee, purchase a kit that will enable you to recycle your car seat quickly and easily regardless of where you live or the car seat’s brand. You will even receive a coupon to apply to the purchase of a new car seat from Clek.

Throwing Away an Old Car Seat

If there aren't any recycling centers near you, you may need to simply toss your car seat in the garbage. In order to ensure that your car seat is not plucked from the curb by well-meaning garbage pickers, try to make your car seat undesirable by cutting straps or damaging the car seat in other ways. If the car seat is past its expiration date or has been involved in an accident or a recall, it is not safe to be reused.

Recycling Programs and Trade-In Events at Nationwide Retailers

Nationwide retailers like Target and Walmart usually do a national trade-in program yearly that enables you to bring an old car seat in to recycle and receive a discount toward a new car seat in exchange. Target's took place in April of 2021, and Walmart has yet to announce a 2021 trade-in date, but the 2019 event was huge so it may make a comeback in 2021.

Drop-In Childcare and Babysitting Resources in Tarrant County

Sometimes Mom & Dad just need a break! Here are your best bets to find a sitter or drop-in play care in Tarrant County.

This one is 7 going on 17. She *thinks* she's old enough to be home alone, but we aren't quite there yet.

Good childcare can be hard to come by. Especially if you are new to the area or simply don't know anyone with older kids who can come watch the kids while you run errands or take a well-deserved break.

I agonized for a long time, wondering when my kids were going to be old enough to leave home alone. While Texas doesn't have a law, per se, about the age at which you can leave a child home alone, there are opinions floating out there about an appropriate age (generally, its around 10 or 11).

Read my full article for Zulily about when kids can stay home alone!

If you need time without the kids, you have options!

Spring Break 2021: The Ultimate Guide to Spring Break in DFW!

It's been a year.

Spring Break 2021 is less than a week away, and my kids are ready for FUN!

While this Spring Break might not look like Spring Breaks in years past, there is still lots of fun to be found all over the Metroplex for adventure seekers! Whether you want to stay in Tarrant County or venture to Dallas and Collin Counties, I've got a list of activities for you that will keep your kids happy and entertained (and out from under foot!).

If you are traveling for Spring Break, head over to Zulily to check out my article on packing tips!

Spring Break 2021 in DFW- Must Visit Spots

Play Street Museum (multiple locations: try Fort Worth, Keller or Irving for close options!):

This spot is great indoor fun for littles. Let them learn, explore and play in a safe environment. Be sure to check the website for operational hours at each location. EA recommends this spot for ages 6 and younger.

Sweet & Sassy Southlake:

Your girly girls (and tomboys!) will thank you for making a trip to this sweet spot. Girls can get manicures, pedicures, haircuts and more at this hot makeover spot. Check out their camp offerings. My girls can't get enough of this place! EA recommends this spot for ages 12 and younger. (Bonus: it's across the street from Central Market and Yogurtland!)

Epic Waters:

Get your swim on at this indoor waterpark. Littles can play in the splash area and older kids can try out the awesome (and slightly terrifying!) slides that will leave them breathless. Enjoy the lazy river and try out the indoor surf challenge. EA recommends this spot for all ages, but book online before you go to guarantee your spot!

Your one-shop stop for fun, this place has something for everyone. Grab lunch or dinner, go bowling, play arcade games, play on the sky course, try out the virtual reality gear. Main Event will entertain your kids for ages. Although this spot is fun for all ages, some activities have height restrictions. EA recommends if for all ages but especially for ages 6 and up.

Ripley's Believe It or Not!:

If you've never been to Ripley's, be prepared to be weirded out. Tons of unusual artifacts and interesting exhibits will enchant (and possibly nauseate) guests. I loved this place as a kid! As an adult, well, the jury is still out. EA recommends this spot for ages 7 and older.

Crayola Experience Plano

Kids will love this colorful place to play and create. Mold melted wax into fun shapes, make a crayon with your name on it, create colorful works of art and so much more. EA recommends this spot for ages 10 and younger.

Peppa Pig World of Play Grapevine

Y'all, this is truly the spot I wish had opened so many years before it did. I love Peppa Pig. I love everything about Peppa Pig. And the World of Play at Grapevine Mills is absolutely charming and so fun for little kids. It's a safe, bright area for young ones to explore and learn. I can't say enough good things about this spot, even if you don't have Peppa fans at home (although try to not fall in love with Peppa after you visit here- I dare you!). EA recommends this spot for ages 6 and younger.

Dallas Zoo & Fort Worth Zoo:

I often see people post online and ask which zoo they should visit or buy a membership to, Dallas or Fort Worth. I think both zoos offer so much to visitors and you can't go wrong either way. Cost is similar between the zoos and the drive time is about the same, as well. Here are pros and cons of both, from the EA mama:
Dallas:
Pros: childrens' play area features a water play zone my kids can spend hours at, large open area in the middle of the zoo allows kids to run and play, plenty of space for a picnic.
Cons: on busy days, parking can be a nightmare.
Fort Worth:
Pros: lots of parking spaces/easy parking, indoor climbing structure for kids (although this is currently closed for construction, keep watching the website for details), fun swamp bridge for kids to run across.
Cons: Safari Splash is a fun splash park located in the zoo but it costs extra, even for members. Currently no real area for kids to roam and play.
EA's thoughts: Dallas if you want to kick back while the kids play, Fort Worth if you really want to engage with the animals. Make sure to buy tickets in advance online!

Scheels The Colony:

Guys. It is killing me that we haven't visited this sporting goods store yet because I like to be first for everything- so someone go and tell me how it is! Ride the indoor Ferris Wheel for $1 per person, play a few arcade games, grab some coffee or candy, check out the aquarium and more! The Ferris Wheel alone would make it worth the drive for the EA crew!

Other ah-mazing spots to check out (there are just SO many here in DFW!): KidMania Fort Worth, KidZania Frisco, SeaLife Grapevine, SeaQuest Fort Worth, Legoland Grapevine, The Happy Lark Fort Worth, Celebrations Fort Worth, All Star Ninjas Mansfield, PlayStudio Fort Worth.

Dream Park Fort Worth:

This park is located right along the Trinity in Fort Worth and is sure to entertain kids of all ages. Plus, it has a fence around it so kids can't escape! This spot has so many fun features kids will beg to stay as long as you'll let them!

Bicentennial Park Southlake:

This park has a zipline, large climbing structure and plenty of seating for parents. When the weather warms up, there is a splash pad in the center of the park that allows kids to cool off while playing. This spot is so fun your kids will want to stay for hours.

What did I miss? Happy Spring Break, guys!
