Yay for Friday... Or... FriYay!

Is there an age limit on who can say FriYay? Hopefully not, I'd most certainly be outside the upper limit..
Here are a few fun things to kick off your weekend!

1. Camp Creativity at Michael's. For ages 3 and up. $5 per person, register online or in store. Come make a fun craft from 10 until noon! There are three locations in the area: one behind the Parks Mall, one in Lincoln Square and one in Mansfield on 287 by Homegoods. Get crafting! (sorry, I don't know what kids will be making... We haven't gotten around to this yet...)
**Note this activity is every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from now until 7/29**

2. I can't believe I haven't mentioned Sonora Park splash pad in Kennedale yet. Shame on me. This is probably our FAVE splash pad in the area! It is fenced in on all sides so there are no runaways, and benches for mom and dad to rest on. It doesn't host Boy Scout Camp each summer, so it gets crowded (the park in general, not just the splash pad) but it is so worth the trip! There are trains that travel by frequently that can be seen from the splash pad that kiddos love, too!

3. Sign your kiddo up for Little Ballet at the Southwest Branch of the Arlington Library. Totally free! Classes are at 10a and 11a. But you do need to register! www.morelibrary.org to register. (this is for the 0-4 group) Don't forget to grab your kiddos free lunch at noon!

4. Don't forget its $1 hot dogs at the following Arlington pools: Bad Konigshafen, Allen Bolden and Randol Mill!

5. $1 movies are on at Studio Movie Grill at 11 am.

6. Finding Dory opens!!! Have you tried the AMC at Eastchase and 30 in Fort Worth? The seats lay *almost* flat- my girls love that!

7. Free tennis lessons! That's right... FREE! We love that the Arlington Tennis Association does free lessons every Fall and Spring at Martin and Lamar High Schools (really and truly free... There NO catch, I promise)... And now they are doing free lessons every Friday night through 7/29! Lessons are at Martin from 6-7:30. The registration form starts at 5th grade... No clue if they are open to younger kiddos or not- email them if you have a 3rd or 4th grader who might want to play! These lessons are taught by USTA certified high school students and grads. Sign up here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1GsY5JgVC18ezVm5liG94D73VDEf1jz1krpG5aFvXElI/viewform

8. It's bring a friend free weekend at Six Flags. From Thursday- Sunday, any season pass holder can bring a guest free. So go ahead... Beg your coworker/neighbor/bestie who is always bragging about how much fun she has at Six Flags to bring you (and your kiddos... Or not!) with you!

That should get you through Friday easily!
If you have ANY questions or want any more info... Please email me at stephpromos@gmail.com.

Three Things for Thursday, June 16

Okay... So I have more than three things for you to do on Thursday... But it sounded good, right?!

1. This I'm most excited about. Tomorrow is 96.3 KSCS Day at Hawaiian Falls! What does that mean? The first 963 people get in free!!! If you are like me and don't have season passes- this is fantastic!!! And if you don't feel like getting up and out early... All day tickets are only $9.63! Kids ages 2 and under are free, and parking is free. Wahoo!

2. It's Throwback Thursday at Randol Mill Pool and Bad Konigshafen Pool in Arlington! Take $1 off the price of each admission ticket! We really, really love both of these pools. I'd recommend Randol Mill if you have kids ages 5 and under, and Bad Konigshafen for the slightly older set (this is my 6 year old's favorite Arlington pool), but both are really great for kids of all ages!

3. Have you signed up yet at Kidsbowlfree.com? If not- you're missing out! Take the kids over to Alley Cats near the Parks Mall and let them have some air-conditioned fun! You will have to rent shoes... But if you plan to bowl a lot this summer, it may just be worth buying a cheap pair on Amazon (they have a few pairs for less than $30).

4. This Thursday is Third Thursdays in downtown Mansfield from 5-8p! Aria Grace has glitter tattoos and face paining and goodies for attendees! Live music, food trucks and giveaways await! There is also a free Thirsty Thursday 5K! How fun does all of this sound?!

5. In my first post, I talked about the awesomeness of the Arlington Libraries! On Thursday, head up to the North East Branch for Little Art at 11a. Let your littles get creative for free! Stick around at noon for free lunch. That's right... FREE LUNCH! All kiddos, ages 0-18, can get a free lunch at the following APL brances: North East, East, South East. Every. Weekday. Awesome, right?!

6. Head over to Studio Movie Grill at 11a for a $1 movie.

More fun ideas for Wednesday, June 15!

A few other Wednesday ideas...
Not feeling a 9a movie at Cinemark? No worries! What about these ideas?
- Catch a show at the Levitt! Tomorrow's show is Secret Agent 23 Skidoo. Should be fantastic! Pack a picnic lunch (and lots of water- it's gets hot out there!) and stay to play in the water... The fountains turn on at 11!
- Catch How To Train Your Dragon 2 at Studio Movie Grill. The show starts at 11- and tickets are just $1!
- Head out to a splash pad to let the littles run off some energy! Splash pads are great for the 5 and under set... And are totally free! Our favorites are: Don Misenheimer (201 E. Lonesome Dove Trail) and California Lane (2001 California Lane). If you are on the east side of town, try Brantley Hinshaw (2121 Overbrook Dr.) or Splash Factory in Grand Prairie (we love this one- but it does cost $2 per person to get in).
- Head over to the library! Lake Arlington branch has story time starting at 10 for little ones. You can also sign up your school-aged child (5-10) for a free hip hop class at the southeast location. How cool is that?! Just be sure to sign up so you have a slot! (Morelibrary.org to register)
- Waiting for evening and cooler temperatures before heading out? No worries!
On Wednesdays after 5p, Bad Konigshafen at Stovall Park is only $5/person!
On Wednesday, from 8-10, it's family pool time at Woodland West Pool!
On Wednesday night at 7:30, the Levitt has family movie night- for free! Tomorrow's feature is Spy Kids! They will have food trucks and Bahama Bucks... Or you can pack your own dinner and enjoy a night of fun with friends!

Keeping you up to date on Arlington activities

Hi!
I'm a mommy of three in Arlington, Texas.
And I'm tired of hearing all about the fun activities in Dallas. And Fort Worth. And Plano. And Southlake. And so on.
Arlington is an amazing city (The American Dream City, in fact!) with loads of activities to offer kids and kids-at-heart.
My friends generally turn to me to find out where to go and what to do day-to-day to entertain kids in this town...
So, I'm going to use this blog to give you ideas to entertain your kids daily, weekly, monthly- during summertime and beyond!

Here are a few things we are checking out this week:

Tuesday, June 14: Craft Day at Peter Piper Pizza. Today's theme was Pirate Day (there is a new theme every Tuesday) (Sorry I'm a bit late to posting and the craft day is over, but it does run all summer long!)  Pay $4.73 for your child- this includes a buffet lunch, starting at 11. This also includes coloring sheets and a craft (today we made pirate-themed foam picture frames). The girls also did a treasure hunt, where my middle daughter won a coloring book. They played a pirate treasure game and won a free ice cream cone each. They also each left with a balloon. Total cost: $22 (2 kids' buffets, one adult buffet and $5 in tokens for the games).

Wednesday, June 15: Morning movies at Cinemark Mansfield! Tomorrow they are showing Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip. Each ticket is $1. The flyer also has a coupon for $1 off a kids' combo meal. Movies are at 9 am Wednesday and Thursday, which is early to have my kids in ready-for-public appearances, but we are going to try!
After the movie, we will go to the Chick Fil A at Camp Wisdom and 360. Did you know, when you attend one of their story times, that are every other Wednesday at 10 am during the school year, you get added to their mailing list? Then, on your child's birthday, you get a FREE kids meal coupon! My middle daughter just turned 4... So we have her coupon to redeem. I also just downloaded the Chick Fil A app (free) and have a digital coupon for a free sandwich just for downloading. So, lunch should be cheap tomorrow!

Thursday, June 16: Have I mentioned how much we love the Arlington Public Libraries?! Did you know that the South East Branch was just remodeled with a small play area for kids? This play area is best for the 0-4 set, and my girls love it! This Thursday, take advantage of some of the amazing FREE activities the libraries offer this summer! Little Art, for the 0-4 set, will be offered at the North East Branch this Thursday at 11. Did you know that, all summer long, the North East, East and South East Libraries are offering FREE lunches to all kids, 0-18? We went to one last week and loved it! Our Arlington libraries ROCK!!

Friday, June 17: If I weren't working Friday, I'd have my girls down at Bad Konigshafen, the community pool located at Stovall Park. On Fridays, you can get $1 hot dogs! Yum! This is a pricier pool, with tickets costing $6.50 per adult and $6 for kids under 48 inches, and 12 months and under free. BUT... My girls love it! They have a splash pad, a play pool, a 4 ft pool and two water slides! Pack a lunch or stay for $1 hot dogs!

Saturday, June 18: Um... Two words... Bubble. Soccer. Even better? It's FREE!!! Awesome, right?! Bring the family and head over to bubble soccer at the East Branch of the Arlington Library at 8:30 pm. Awesome! During the day- check out ArlingCon! Join other superhero and comic fans at the first ever ArlingCon. My husband totally has his eye on this...

Sunday, June 19: Happy Father's Day! My husband hates traveling to Dallas for just about any reason, but Sunday I'm making him go... To Medieval Times! Fathers are free with a full price adult ticket this week, so we are taking advantage. It doesn't hurt that I won a $75 gift card to Medieval Times last summer from Dallas Child... So our trip will be pretty inexpensive! If we were hanging around Arlington, though, we'd likely hit up Hurricane Harbor or Hawaiian Falls for some water time with our girls!

Ask me any questions you want... And I'll be back Friday to update our plans for next week (we never slow down... Like... EVER! Ha!)
